PADM 5450. International Public and NGO Management

8. The Sustainable Development Goals

12 October 2023

Since 2016, the basis for international public sector action has been the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and their 169 targets, which are expected to be accomplished by 2030. However, how they are to be achieved is a work in progress, involving new intergovernmental mechanisms, work of the United Nations system and a process of monitoring and evaluation. This session looks at the range of promises in the SDGs, how they are to be measured, who is supposed to implement them and how this connects with the on-going process of reform.

Questions covered

  • What is the content of the SDGs?
  • How can they be measured?
  • Who is responsible for their implementation?
