13. Greenpeace and NGOs generally

International non-governmental organizations face a particular set of management problems. They are usually seeking to influence global policy or to deliver services in countries in which they are essentially guests. Greenpeace is one of the publicly most successful of the environmentally-oriented advocacy organizations. The organization has had notable successes and yet, at one point, it almost went out of business. It demonstrates what an NGO has to do to function effectively at the international level.
